There is not really a comparison you can draw between the two systems. This is M4/3 and A7 is Full Frame. You're talking a MASSIVE difference in sensor size and in the case of capturing light size matters. All other things being equal, bigger sensors will function better in low light and be able to capture much more detail and do it faster and with less noise. The downside is that there is a corresponding increase in size/portability and price. More data means much more expensive processors and higher battery requirements. Larger sensor means much bigger and pricer lenses. There is no technical magic that can be pulled off here. The question is always what you're willing to spend and how portable do you want it to be. There are certain cameras that defy their size capabilities, but they usually cost an extra arm or leg (sony rx100 series for example) and will still usually fall short when compared to a larger sensor competitor.

How do you compare this with A7III? I know A7iii is much better but it is also much pricier. Significant disadvantages of this vs the A7iii?

So it's strange, I found this after 550 sale on the Sony a6000. I'll need a mirrorless for travel before the middle of August. Whatdayathink? Amazon has bundle deals at this price.

Cant compare, a7iii is a beast but i use the gx85 as a second camera....like using it at the pool, beach, etc. or if I want something compact and light. I carry the gx85 with 3 lens and still lighter than the a7iii lol. The gx85 is a great cam at this price point but falls apart in low light. The gx85 also has better IBIS than any sony cameras, its not gimbal good but its very good.

Thanks for the detailed response. Do we need to buy different lenses for Sony and Panasonic? If yes, which ecosystem is cheaper in the long run.

They have diff mounts (micro four third and Sony E mount)
M4/3 is alot cheaper...sony Full frames are expensive

Yes Sony lens is super expensive. Part of the reason I went for m43 format(much more mature tech in my opinion). Panasonic brand is better or may be the best? at shooting videos.

Compared to what cameras in this price range? What exactly are you expecting in terms of low light performance?

Camera needs to capture light to form an image. No light = dark/black image. Work from there then most camera could perform pretty good in low light. Key principle is you need to capture as sharp and stable image as possible<--that is better than bluer image=can't be used.
