[YMMVish] 2019 Honda Pilot Clearance - $38,125 for 2019 Pilot Elite - DC metro

Wandered into the showroom floor while waiting on an oil change for my Accord, was offered an unsolicited deal for 22% off MSRP on a 2019 Pilot Elite, with fair trade on my Accord which they determined while I was waiting on the oil change.

Thinking it was BS, I called one of the local high volume Honda dealers nearby, the deals were even better.

For a 2019 Elite with about $450 of dealer add-ons (mud flaps, rubber mats, wheel locks)...

MSRP with destination - $49,065
"No hassle" price including dealer add-ons - $38,875
Honda Loyalty Bonus (for Accords and Odysseys, but dealership can apply for any honda owned in your household) - $750

Total before local tax tags and dealer fee - $38,125

If financing through Honda, it would've been $1,000 more.

Talked to the manager - he said all Honda dealerships nationwide were instructed to liquidate current Pilot inventories ASAP, and even for a year end deal, they hadn't seen anything like this before for a Pilot or for a year end model clearance.

I personally didn't bother shopping around, so might be able to do better locally where you are.

Current promotions end tomorrow, 7/8. However, given the size of the honda -> dealer discounts and the fact there's a lot of inventory out there with sales slowing on all cars, it wouldn't surprise me if there's something the same or slight better starting Tuesday.

The paranoid side of me thinks this feels an awful lot like early 2008 did, so this may end up being a terrible deal later this fall.

Not sure what the prices would be like in lower trims, but I'd imagine they're equally strong.

I usually dont believe anything the dealership says about them needing to sell x amount of cars today or this week or by the end of the month yada yada yada. But regardless i think you got a hell of a deal.

Quick truecar averages are around $45000 and i may get a quote for a couple thousand less if i want to be spammed on my email and phone.

Bottom line thats a huge discount

Nobody wants to spend that kind of money on half the crap they don't need in that trim level and certainly not for a generic Honda. Manufacturers are smoking something if they think prices should be anywhere near $50k for this as MSRP. Wake me up when it is $30k out the door

Updated in the title but this is in Maryland outside of DC. They said it was a national incentive.

Seems like a reasonable offer. I got my 2019 Honda Pilot Touring AWD for $39700 before TTR after haggling this past January.

I generally agree with you. I always buy base model luxury cars instead of high trim "regular". I almost bought a base mdx for 42k a few years ago but if this elite trim honda drives and handles like the mdx i could save $6000 with this deal. If i was in the market i would at least test drive it

Just an FYI - the new Honda Pilot has a smaller cargo space than previous years. So watch out.

Incredible deal if true. I paid 34k for exl 2019. The lowest price I got after I checked and negotiated with almost 8 dealers in 200 mile radius...
Finance w Honda for 1.9%. tour and elite are nice, but I don't think those add-on and feature would be beneficial for my need vs $$

Just wonder why they need to clear the inventory.. this generation is in its mid life cycle... No full redesign is forseeble in 2020...

If they're doing this now, incentive may be a lot bigger in September when they generally release next years model. Obviously this is just speculation! But it's so crazy that they're so expensive. Got my new 08 pilot ex-l for 32k or something. Haven't kept up on trim, but i'd Imagine this trim has DVD player, lane assist, blind spot, etc.

Guess the WSJ article this morning may be accurate. Manufacturers have been overproducing SUVs.
