Cheapest I found (considering the $50 gift card) on an awesome combo. Impact Driver, Drill, two 2AH batteries, rapid charger, tool bag. Free shipping

Makita's line of 18V ''sub-compact'' cordless tools gives users the easy handling characteristics of a smaller 12V tool with the power of an 18V tool. This combo kit includes two 18V sub-compact tools—a drill/driver and an impact driver—plus two 18V LXT® Compact 2.0Ah batteries. The ultra-compact 2-speed brushless drill/driver weighs only 2.8 lbs with the 2.0Ah battery installed, while the variable speed brushless impact driver with two speed settings weighs only 2.6 lbs with the same battery. The impact driver features Assist Mode (A-mode) which helps eliminate screw cam-out and cross threading by driving at low speed until tightening begins. The included Rapid Optimum Charger brings all up to full charge in minimal time for maximum productivity. For added convenience, the batteries feature an integrated LED battery charge level indicator. Makita 18V LXT® batteries boast incredibly fast charge times and Star Protection Computer Controls™. Star Protection-equipped tools and batteries exchange data in real time to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating.

Features:
  • Efficient BL™ Brushless motors are electronically controlled to optimize battery life for up to 50% longer run time per charge (when compared to BL1815)
  • Electronically-controlled BL™ Brushless Motors eliminate carbon brushes, enabling the BL Motor to run cooler and more efficiently for longer life
  • Extreme Protection Technology (XPT™) is engineered for improved dust and water resistance for operation in harsh conditions
  • Batteries feature an integrated LED battery charge level indicator
  • 2.0Ah battery reaches full charge in 25 minutes or less
  • Rapid Optimum Charger communicates with the battery's built-in chip during the charging process to control current, voltage and temperature, optimizing battery life
  • Rapid Optimum Charger has a built-in fan to cool the battery for faster, more efficient charging
  • Equipped with Star Protection Computer Controls to protect against overloading, over-discharging and over-heating

I have this set and I love it. I got it around Xmas for $170, the best price I could find. This is a great deal if you need any Rockler items.

Rockler GC makes it an attractive deal but not enough to make me pull the trigger for these home use models. I regularly see comparable deals at Home Depot . 2nd generation subcompact series should be coming out soon, so deals should be plentiful soon enough. But I'm just a contractor so what do I know.

Posted this at $144 (https://slickdeals.net/f/11532779-makita-sub-compact-brushless-cordless-combo-kit-cx200rb-r-recon-143-99-free-ship) about a year ago. It was REFURBISHED so it got some hate. I'm still using this set though and highly recommend for anyone that's on the fence about it. Size is perfect for auto work on tight spaces.

It's almost as if its not made to be thrown around and treated like crap and survive its a piece of crap. I deal with lots of contractors and I can tell you I can find people that think every brand available is crap. These are a great set for a light-medium use professional or home use.

According to Makita these aren't supposed to be lesser.models compared to lxt but rather lightweight equally professional models. They are brushless and are just as strong but just lacking a few features as trade offs.

I own this set as well as the subcompact recip saw. They don't feel much more fragile than my green lxt makitas.

Therefore I would agree with makitas claim. However, if you don't need super small and light I would indeed recommend full size over it. As with guns, full size always has advantages. However it sure is Handy to go small when in tight spaces like under a house.

2ah batteries? What a f###ng joke.
Not a great deal. Another paid access slick "deal". Amazon has had many incredible sales with all kinds of freebies with Makita LXT tools. I have gotten free batteries, free tools, free chargers galore. I have 14 Makita last tools and 8 batteries with 5 chargers. 2 x 5 ah batteries. 4 x 4 ah batteries. 2 x 3 ah batteries.
It's insane they would even make such crap as a 2 ah battery pack.
Perhaps rather than sh*tting all over this deal you could offer some constructive alternatives.

The whole point of these "subcompact" tools is that they're light and easy to maneuver. It makes perfect sense why they don't want to hang a 5ah monster at the bottom of this tool. Like it or not, it fits with how they're positioning these tools.

And if you can make use of the $50 worth of woodworking tools or supplies, you get into the Makita ecosystem with 2 tools, a charger and a couple batteries for $150. I think many will find that an enticing deal.
