Amazon and Wayfair both have the Corelle Winter Frost White Dinnerware Set (38-Piece, Service for 12) on sale for $87. They show the list as $165 but that's inflated. These are the vitrelle glass and they usually go for $3/plate. This is the glass that's very thin but extremely chip and break resistant. They're great around kids because you get the benefits of glass (in that it's non-porous) but it's light, thin and unbreakable. I bought this so that when we have parties I don't have to buy plastic and throw it out. I figure these look better and will last a long time. According to Camel, it's hit this price before but the typical price is $120. Here's the Amazon description
38 piece set includes: 12 each of the following: 10-1/4-inch plates, 6-3/4-inch plates, 18-ounce bowls, plus two 12-1/4-inch serving platters.
Crisp, bright and classic, this white dinnerware set is as versatile as it is timeless
Nothing-else-like-it, triple-layer-strong glass plates and bowls highly resist chips and cracks
Lightweight and easy to handle
Ultra-hygienic, non-porous and easy-to-clean
Plates and bowls stack compactly, taking up half the space of ceramic dishes
Dishwasher, microwave and preheated-oven safe
Crafted with pride in Corning, New York

Vitrelle is pretty cool. It's three layers of glass; the outer two have a different energy potential than the inner layer and this balance is what makes them so strong...but also makes them blow up spectacularly when that balance is disrupted by the right (or wrong) impact (usually on tile or something similarly hard, hardwood and laminate are pretty safe).

We have these. They chip easily.

Good. Coffee mugs are such a poopy filler item.

Doesn't come with mugs.
For those considering Ikea, they're made in France and have textured bottom, while Corelle is made in USA and has the same smooth finish everywhere. Corelle dinner plates are about 1/4in larger diameter.
No chip with my Corelle set over 50 pieces. Love Corelle.
