Short review:

1)Super great price for an auto, although a 7S26 is lacking hacking and hand-winding, which is becoming increasingly inexcusable in 2019. It's about as low-end as automatic movements not made in China get.
2)No lume, which is a bummer because Seiko's Lumi brite is the best, brightest lume in the world (deal with it, Chromalight), and a honking big watch like this would look very cool with a lot of lume.
3)It's big, and after about a decade and a half of exploding watch sizes, they're starting to trend down in size, so after a few years this might feel a little bit like clownshoes.
4)The dial work, like much of Seiko's dial-work, punches miles above it's weight. It's just gorgeous in person.
5)Despite being big, it's not very tall, which is a plus.
6)The bracelet, like many inexpensive Seiko watch bracelets, is obviously where they cut costs. Pin and collar, which is passable, but hollow end links really make this feel cheap. In my opinion, the bracelet on this watch is best removed immediately and then kept in the box next to the instruction manual that you'll never read.
7)50m of WR and no screw-down crown is meh, and would keep it from being the everyday watch for me. I'm not comfortable swimming in something without a screw-down crown. Maybe I'm an idiot. Probably.

I own this watch and agree with much of what you said.

The bracelet isn't too bad but it is a little cheap feeling. I've replaced my bracelet with a collection of NATO and leather sport straps but really want to get the strap that this guy had in his review: https://www.lug2lug.eu/seiko-recr...97-review/

All in all this is a nice retro-looking automatic that gets compliments due to the beautiful dial and can be had at a relatively cheap price.

I'm also trying to get my hands on that strap. The Polish site he links to doesn't seem to carry that strap anymore, at least not the kind where you can customize the sandwitched, middle part of the strap color and it's unlikely re-sellers of that strap company would have chosen that customization. We may be out of luck.
