Great deal for the 49". I'm waiting for an epic deal on the 38" since it has a little more vertical real estate.

I want the 49" so badly. Just ridiculous, but I don't care.

I'm tempted too. This is the best deal I've seen on the 49". But I decided awhile ago I would hold out for the 38" since I like the extra vertical resolution for document editing (you can get a full page vertical at 100%).

I've been drooling over that 49" since it came out. It's really tempting at this price. $800 may seem steep, but that's pretty close to the price of 2 of Dell's 27" QHD monitors.

I like Dell's monitors -- used them exclusively for nearly 20 years now -- but I don't think I've ever bought any refurb monitors from Dell. Anybody have experience with that?

Bought lots of refurb Dells, also over almost 20 years. Aside from the packaging, you can hardly ever tell it's not brand new.

My sad little 34" ultrawide is jealous.

How is the 34"? Would mainly be using it for photo/video work.

Thanks. I may have to jump Jumped on this. I just upgraded my HTPC/gaming rig and plan to convert the old one to a Linux box for hacking some code and doing more at-a-desk type work -- and maybe a little keyboard & mouse gaming -- and this would really be the ticket for making it feel like a real work box.

Is the 49" overkill for office productivity (e.g. word doc, pdf, browser tabs open at same time)?

Definitely, but that doesn't make me want it less lol. I have the Dell Ultrawide 34 for my home office and love it.

The main difference for productivity is whether you would want more horizontal resolution at the expense of vertical resolution.

Used to be the same question for 16x9 vs 16x10. I'd take the 16x10 all day long if my main use case is productivity. Similar debate between 38" which is 1600 vertical and the 49" which is 1400 vertical.

But in any case it looks like the 38" is OOS.
