Nice deal. As fun to play as some of these travel guitars are(Taylor GS Mini, Martin DJR), I still prefer the sound of a larger body like a grand auditorium or dreadnought.

Picked up sister model CP-140SE (parlor version as opposed to travel) on impulse the last time it was posted on slickdeals, same price. The one I received must have been a return b/c there was zero packing material and no cardboard braces / brackets to secure the case. The case wasn't wrapped in plastic either, and the top of the case is all scuffed. It's possible the scuffing happened during shipping, but it really looks like this wear / damage happened while outside of the box. There are minor finish flaws in a few places. Nothing horrendous and about what you'd expect for a $200 guitar, or rather, perhaps not as nice as some would expect for a $400 guitar. The high E has a total dead spot on the 5th fret and the low E has a dead spot on the same fret. Sucks b/c that's one of the positions I tend to hang out in. Acoustic sound of the CP is *okay*. My expectations weren't all that high, as it is a parlor guitar after all. Definitely could use more bass and the sound is perhaps a little flat overall. I expected more punch and clarity. The CT and CP probably have the same pickup, and plugged in sounds GREAT on my little yammy THR10C (RECOMMEND) and is very fun to play. The CP purchase would have been a winner with better quality control. I didn't expect a great setup, but I certainly didn't expect dead spots on the 5th fret. I like Fender electrics, but have never played a Fender acoustic that impressed me, so not sure what I was thinking buying one. Didn't expect a scuffed case and what appears to effectively be a reconditioned item, so not sure what I was thinking buying a guitar from Adorama. Looks pretty on the wall.

If you have a chance, could you measure a few things? It seems although marked a travel guitar, Fender did a horrible job posting specs about it.

Overall Length (tip of headstock to bottom of strap peg):
Depth of body (front to back):
Widest part of body (side to side):

Sorry, I was confused about the model. I have the CP-140SE as opposed to the "CT".

The CP-140SE dimensions if anyone cares (again, the CP is a different model than the guitar in this deal):
Overall Length (tip of headstock to bottom of strap peg): 40"
Depth of body (front to back): 4"
Widest part of body (side to side): 13"

Weird little case. Looks pretty sharp in the photos I saw, but unfortunately doesn't present very well in person. The case is oddly lumpy on top under the tolex and along the front bottom edge near the handle there is a strange spot about 2" in diameter where the tolex is bulged out and it feels like something is in there. Was crunchy when I first pushed on it and at first I thought the plywood may have been damaged, but it's just poor workmanship. Hopefully the tolex doesn't continue to lift from that spot. The case logo is.... leatherite???

So it's kind of love-hate so far. Conflicted.

Sorry to have introduced some confusion here, my purchase was actually a different model. Mine is the CP-140SE, which is "Parlor" rather than "Travel". Different size but likely the same quality crap shoot.

Yikes, and Fender calls that a Travel guitar...

This thing is no where near the size of a Little Martin/Taylor GSMini/Yamaha APXT2

Fyi if anyone is really wanting it for travel, my APXT2 is 34x3x11.5, way smaller dimensions than this.

Can someone tell me if this is a good deal and a good guitar? I've been playing for over a decade. I'm a casual player. The other guy's review is no good since he was confused about the model.

I'd bet at that price it's quality and sound surpasses others.

Which acoustic guitar do folks recommend for a beginner adult ? Someone that's easier (if that's possible) to start with.
