Just as a note for people thinking about buying Chromecasts: it may be worth looking at an Ultra vs a v3 if you have a media server. The Ultra supports H.265 (aka HEVC) whereas the v1-3 don't. If you want to use H. 265 and your server can't transcode (or you don't want to transcode), consider an Ultra.

Just a side note, with the latest Amazon prime app update you can now cast to your Chromecast.

This model was just released last October so I doubt there will be another refresh any time soon. Especially since there's already the Chromecast Ultra. There haven't been any rumors of a new chromecast that I've heard of at least.

Ha! I'd just come to post this. You beat me to it. At $5 more it was a 3 TU deal a couple of weeks ago: https://slickdeals.net/f/13188142-google-two-chromecast-latest-model-streaming-media-players-55?v=1&src=SiteSearch

In for a pair.

Yup took them forever just to come out with this new one last October and the 4K version hasn't been updated in like forever so don't expect anything new they aren't like Amazon with new version's of Firesticks like every year it seems LOL

If I just want one, can I buy this and return one. Will I get $25 refund?

Not only YouTube as your streaming source, which you are limited to from TV but I use Chromecast to cast streams from other apps from the phone.

Also, typing using your TV remote is a pain. So you might end up getting a keyboard and mouse...but if you could do all that using your phone and cast to TV, I think it's much cleaner and less clunky.
