Editor's Notes & Price Research

Written by

  • The KeyFit is designed for travel system use with compatible strollers from Chicco. The carrier secures easily to the base and strollers with a reassuring audible click. A two-position carry-handle and one-hand release make it just as easy to remove.
  • Our research indicates that at the time of this post, the Chicco KeyFit Infant Car Seat is $80 lower (44.44% savings) than the next best available price from a reputable merchant with prices starting from $180. ~ persian_mafia

This is a great car seat. I recommend getting the matching stroller. It is such an easy transition in and out of the car. Thanks OP!

Right. As far as I can tell, the difference is this is rated for infants up to 22lbs while the keyfit 30 is rated for up to 30lbs.

Any other differences?

My LO cannot fit her Keyfit 30 when she was 7 month old, and 20 lbs. (she is at 90 percentile at her age) We have to get a convertible seat for her so she doesn't sweat like hell very time she was riding a car.

So chances are you may need to get upgrade to convertible before 22 lb.

I have a keyfit 30. Will this base fit it? Are they interchangable?

by 22 lbs you're likely switching to a different seat anyways. Our daughter, as well as my nieces, nephews, and godson's all were migrated to different convertible seats before maxing out the infant seat. If it saves you precious $ to not have the higher weight limit often not utilized, that's golden in my book.
BTW, I got my Graco clicktight 35 from Amazon for $55 (thanks SD!), then sold it to a neighbor for $50. Effectively "renting" it for $5
