Thanks for always posting these deals. I'm using one you posted from Denver to Chicago to visit some friends who moved away six or so months ago, and I'm seriously considering this one for a trip next year.

Awesome and uncommon deal. Thanks so much! There's also quite a few dates in the $300-320 which is also very good.

In google flights so who knows if all actually work as advertised, but here's a $230 in April/May.

Nvm, I guess it isn't $230. The one way to Lima is 80% off at $100 but all the trips back to Chicago are $230 in themselves. I'll play around a bit with it.

Edit: $230 is possible but not with realistic dates. A few week or 2week trips for <$330 from February to June. Reasonable layovers in Mexico city.

I'd say it's a more adventurous destination. The hike to Machu Picchu is one of the best in the world, but it's still one of the least developed countries in SA and it wouldn't as convenient as visiting other places. Still, if you've ever visited countries like that you'd know that you can meet some of the friendliest people

Funny, I think I broke Interjet's website

Also ORD to Bogota (BOG), Colombia are down to $229 for many dates from Feb 2020 to Apr 2020. ORD to Medellin (MDE), Colombia as well. Saying nothing about the quality of these places as tourist destinations... definitely improving though. Most prices are showing for me on Expedia, though the return trip prices are less reliable. You may need to book on Interjet for that and it's still broken!

Lima is ok, outside of the city is better. We were surprisingly being stalked by a guy in Mira Flores

Ugh, I'm so mad. I got the ORD-LIM leg for $156 on Expedia, but the return legs on Interjet bumped from $130 to $230 while I was trying to get the site to work. Apparently they IP blocked me after my first few searches which is very odd. I guess calendar view requires a lot of server bandwidth.

Oh and there's quite a few round trip dates in June 2020 for $230 on Interjet's website if anyone's interested. Summer (winter) is definitely a good time to visit Peru, and you could certainly go on to fly/take a bus to Chile/Argentina and ski.

Says Lima, Peru buts posts a picture of Machu Picchu which is located in Cusco, Peru. Another 1hr 20min flight and extra cost to consider.

Update: LAX, DFW and JFK as low as $230 as well but with fewer dates than ORD. Flights to various large cities in Mexico are also about $200 which isn't a slick deal but still ok.

Remember that Cusco is above 11k feet as well, so flying there from Chicago without much acclimation might not be great for most people. This is coming from someone who has 0 problems in Denver, but hikes 14k feet a lot. 11k is the magic point for me when things get weird.

But yeah, bus/train will cost you a little bit.

I guess for this reasoning, I'd say you'd need to invest at least 10 days in Peru if you plan to go to to Cusco/Machu Picchu. Not possible for a lot of people but Lima is also interesting in itself.

Did a trip to medellin Colombia. Had a blast. Everyone speaks Spanish there with a few exceptions. Exchange rate is favorable towards the dollar and there is quite a bit to do. You can get a hotel room for $20 a night and it's not a motel or rinky dinky thing. Breakfast, maid service, double beds in 1 room, fridge and parking for $20-30. Be smart about where you go and at what times and you'll be ok. Overall people were friendly to me. Would visit again
