50% off for me and the stated price. Ordered one for pickup. Now I wait and see if they can find it.

It's a decent deal assuming you trust Lowes reviews to not be faked any. On Amazon, a similar kit that's also Gold Oxide has mixed reviews on the bits themselves but also the case. Again, it's not the same exact model number but will still contain the same exact type of bits..

Figured. Thanks for confirming. Also, what in the world is Gold Oxide? I've heard of black oxide, titanium and Cobalt, but not gold oxide? Are these high speed steel?

Gold does not form an oxide, but remember we now live in the post facts world.

Unless you're using a drill press, everybody snaps little drill bits irregardless of their quality.

If you're snapping the larger sizes, then you need to work on your technique.

Why I now just go HF and buy in bulk the smaller 2 or 3 size and have been able to avoid buying anymore bits

I bought a set of cheap drill bits years ago, The 3/8 bit spiral darned near straightened out, while drilling through soft wood. All I could do was laugh. I had never seen that happen before.
