I bought this the last time it was available at $139.99. It's been great - relatively quiet and very effective. I wish it had a child-lock on the keypad, and the blue screen/lights are quite bright. Also, I did confirm that you cannot order the Geek Squad protection plan on Google Express orders after calling the Geek Squad support number. Some forum posts state that you might have luck returning the item to Best Buy and re-buying it there to get the warranty, but then you miss out on the Google Express discount.

I returned last order via Google express due to bent coils. The best buy rep couldn't believe how bad it was. Are your coils good?

Haven't looked that closely. The box was not damaged in shipment, and there's very good airflow from the unit

Costco has a 70-pint one with a pump. It is $179.99 though and you need a membership.

I got the 70 pint one for $150 when the 50 pint (which I really wanted) was $200. This thing puts out the HEAT! I have a SoleusAir 30 pint dehumidifier which uses about 150 watts when running and puts out very little heat. The Insignia uses over 600 watts when running. It does its job, but I think I'd rather have the smaller unit running longer and cooler than this beast chugging away and heating up the house.

I want a quiet dehumidifier. I've read the Frigidaire is the quietest 50-pint. It makes almost no compressor noise, but the fan is noticable. I wonder how much difference there is between the Frigidaire and this one.

I have two Frigidaire dehumidifiers and they have been working like tanks for the past 3 years. I can attest to them being great! I have them on 24/7.

That being said, I would also consider how much humidity you are dealing w/ and where you will be putting them. I have a 70 pint and a 30 pint and the 30 pint struggles in areas there is a lot of humidity and ends up dumping a lot of heat into the space. Both are pretty loud when they are on ... louder than the highest setting of my Vornado. However, they do a great job in extracting moisture and I have to dump the water out on a daily basis during very humid days.

That being said, nothing like a great working HVAC! Just changed our 10+ year old one out w/ a brand new system (ouch) and it sucks moisture out of the air like no other. My dehumidifiers hardly run now. Talk about new meaning to the word "conditioner". Depending on your application / needs / situation - you may want to evaluate your HVAC system as well Smilie

Would this potentially save energy if my HVAC is removing less moisture? Since running an HVAC is very expressive, I was thinking if buying one of these would help save some energy.

Missed it last time it was on sale.

For those who have this Insignia dehumidifier, if you unplug it while running and plug it back in, does it resume operation at previous settings or stay off? Wanting to run off a smart plug
