It looks like this is a combo of the starter battery pack and the orbital sander, so I don't think you will be able to.

I haven't looked into the m18 orbital sander, is it any good?

You usually can return either part of a bundle (when purchased in store) if the website shows the big plus sign in the pic and the model number is a mashup of the individual parts. In this case, 2648-20-48-59-1850SP, the first half is the sander (2648-20) and the second half (48-59-1850SP) is the starter kit.

In store purchases in select markets can also get the 11% rebate this week: https://www.homedepotrebates11percent.com/

Edit: More discussion and more tool options in this all-encompassing thread: https://slickdeals.net/f/13171927-milwaukee-power-tools-m12-12-volt-starter-kit-select-bonus-m12-tool-99-more-free-s-h (though I don't blame the OP for missing it since the mods edited out the M18 in the thread title)

Even if you could, I'm not sure you'll save much over buying the sander separately. Looks like it's selling for $99 on its own.

Is this slick? I thought the sander alone is $100. I can't imagine the batteries and charger are worth another $100?

Does this work for in store purchase (buying two separate items)?

If you are able to buy in store and return you'd save about 33% on the sander by keeping it.

Normal prices are $100 for the sander and $200 for the starter kit. So you're paying $200 for $300 worth of stuff, which is 67%.

67% for the sander comes to $67
67% for the starter kit comes to $134

Its actually $299 list price for the starter kit and $99 for the sander. Overall discount is 50%. If you returned the batteries you could get the sander for $50. If you look on the website the listed discount is 50%.

Starter kit is the $199 5ah. It's not the 9ah which is $299.

I have this sander, and I was far from impressed. I bought it on sale for around $70 for the outdoor convenience when sanding, but my corded Makita with the side handle still blows this away anyday. Just my take on it if anyone's on edge.
