Good promo on a good airline. Use other aggregators like Google flights or SkyScanner and compare before booking.

used to be Great Airline.. still good. But some of the policies they are enforcing are very tedious. For example, I was flying internationally with a stopover in Dubai DXB hub. There was no weighing or checking of the carry-on luggage during boarding the flight in US. However, at DXB they were weighing carry-on during boarding of connecting flight and hassling lot of passengers. I understand that they do have carry-on requirement listed on web but they have never enforced them.. More importantly enforcing this requirement in the middle of journey is definitely wrong.
Another issue is that you cannot select the seats until 24 hrs before departure even when you did booking months prior. and I am not taking about premium seats.. you can't even select normal seats unless you pay.

Finally, almost every time I have checked in last 2 years, their prices have been quite a bit more than other comparable airlines.

Not questioning your experience, but we flew with them a couple months ago through Dubai and we didn't notice carry-ons being weighed for either our onward or return flights, so your experience maybe a one-off or something they started doing this past month? Also, seat selection only within 24 hours is now true of most, if not all, flights booked out of the US I believe, not just Emirates.

The in flight experience has gone down hill quite a bit though. Been flying with them for about 10 years now and their inflight service seems to be worsening each time I fly with them (flight attendants not showing up even after you hit the call attendant light multiple times, had to remind a couple of times to give our baby some baby food on every flight leg). The flight interior looks old and dated. The quality of the food is average at best. The only saving grace is their in flight entertainment which is really good. Not worth the premium pricing they command.

The weight check during the layover is definitely not one off. I traveled twice in the past 6 months and seen this both times on flights towards India. Have heard from multiple other friends too.
