One thing you can be sure about LG phones is that they are forgotten by LG the moment they hit the shelves
This isnt a great deal considering S10 is $599

Considering how fast lg prices depreciate this phone will be in the 300/ soon if history is the same with the previous models. I was lucky enough to sell my g7 for 250 last year.

Got a Prime phone a while back. The model was a moto something. Anyhow that model was touted as being one of the easiest phones for bootloader unlocking. Nope, not the prime version. Just a warning in case that is something someone is thinking about. Prime might* = locked to oblivion.

Don't think any lg USA model is bootloader unlockable anymore. G7 wasn't.

LG makes nice phones with variable cameras, but I couldn't wait to get rid of my G6. After a year so, the battery is crap and goes to 50% in about 1.5 hours. Plus the vibrate feature, despite me not dropping the phone, turned off for several months at a time, began working, and start it all over again not working.

The latter is a known issue and factory reset was unable to fix.

Looking forward to my Samsung S10e... which has more memory and features and is at Best Buy for $150 cheaper.

Hard pass unless you are a LG fan boy. Had V30 and G7, finally decided to give it up. Although the DAC is a huge plus, LG simply doesn't have a good track of supporting its devices, V30 still hasn't received Pie update yet. Their modified OS has all kinds of unanticipated bugs and not aesthetically pleasing either. Not to say horrible depreciation of the G series If you are already with ATT Veriozn and Cricket, just go with the Bestbuy $350 S10e deal.

They absolutely do. The hardware is excellent and I actually quite like the OS. And the sound is fantastic.

However, do not buy LG:
  1. If you want good photos - LG cameras have great professional tools, but out of the box the photos are TRASH - Over-processed and over-saturated to the point of unusability. They seriously look like they were hit with an oil-paint photoshop filter. And forget about taking photos in low-light - more grain than a bran muffin. And the focus and shutter speeds are SLOOOOOW. You can solve some of this with 3rd party apps, but you're still not getting a point-and-shoot camera.
  2. If you want timely updates - I'd say LG is slow with updates, but that would suggest you'd be guaranteed to get them. It's over a year later and most G7's still haven't updated to Android 9. You're lucky to get a security patch every other month. If you like the OS that's on there and can live with it, go for it. If you want updates, RUN.

Or just buy it unlocked for $499. Either way, I agree. Despite still having some problems in its update schedule, Samsung is still WORLDS beyond LG in this regard. And their camera actually takes decent photos right out of the box. It's not a Pixel, but it's good enough for most people.

I'm coming from older, slower Moto G and X series and this seems to check all the boxes - fastest Snapdragon, excess RAM (6GB+), and fast charging (QC 3.0). All this for under $500 seems to be unmatched. I can see why some would spend $100 more for the S10, but this definitely seems slicker to me.

A previous commenter mentioned an S10e for $150 less at Best Buy, but that's with activation with only a few carriers. The real price is $550 for an apples-to-apples as I understand it.

Yeah, Unfortunately with my V30 and V20 in order to get any meaningful use out of these phones I had to flash non LG OS's from XDA. I couldn't stand the lag and App crashes, it's a shame, I'd use the V30 over my OP 5T but the OS just isn't up to par. LG is also delaying PIE updates to the V30, which has me concerned they are going to keep delaying it and never release it like they did with the V20.
Great hardware but the software just ruins it.
