I searched SD and couldn't find a thread for this specific deal, and IMO it merits one:
For Prime members with Amazon Prime Rewards VISA credit cards:

Kindle Paperwhite – Now Waterproof with 2x the Storage – Includes Special Offers [amazon.com]
Prime Day Price $84.99

Pay with your Amazon Prime VISA and you automatically get 25% back on select Kindle E-Readers [amazon.com]

$84.99 - 25% = $63.74

Terms: "The amount listed in the promotional offer includes the 5% Back you already earn on Amazon.com purchases with your Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card, and the extra % Back you can earn with this promotion. This promotional offer only applies to the portion of net qualifying purchases (purchases less returns and other credits) of eligible items paid for with your Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card at Amazon.com. The extra % Back will post to your account within a week of the transaction posting, and will appear on your monthly credit card billing statement and be available for use within 1-2 billing cycles. To qualify for this promotional offer, your account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment."
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

The rewards are redeemable as cash towards your credit card bill so it's the same thing. Just comes off your credit card bill. They do NOT have to be used at amazon.com like some people think. It's a legit cash back reward.

Still costs $84.99, reword to say you get that in rewards, but at no point are you paying $63.74 for this. I understand what you're saying, just misleading.

It's actually worth 20% because it's on top of the 5% you would already get

Thanks OP ! I had an older kindle touch I bought on FB for 10$ and traded it in for 15$. With the 25% trade in and the 15$ gift card, this thing will come out to like 25-30$!

Finally, annoying that they kept offering the promos for amex (which I couldn't get to work) and discover (which I wasn't offered...sigh) but the Amazon card had nothing.

Question: anyone know if this can be combined with the offer for today only thru the app:

Spend $100 and get $10 credit
Spend $200 and get $22 credit
Spend $500 and get $60 credit.

and while I'm at it, is there a way to also get the $10 Ibotta credit?

You get 5% everyday when using the Amazon Visa. This is 25% so it's an additional 20%

Sweet, traded in an old kindle touch, ended up getting a new Kindle Paperwhite for $31.

Then if my calculation is correct I should get 9.37 cash back from having Prime Store Card.

Been waiting for a killer deal to get the new Paperwhite because I have the previous gena nd I love it but have seen some critical reviews regarding pinholing and other issues but for $31 and an old kindle I am willing to see what it's all about!

cracked is ok but you might end up getting $0 in trade-in value, and they give you the trade-in value upfront so if you don't get the full amount based on your description they will take it back from you. Or you can wait and see what they offer and choose to have it shipped back to you but then you don't get the credit upfront. But I believe you would still get the device discount at the very least and I don't believe they take that back if your device sucks.
