Killed the weeds and not the grass? Sorry I'm a newbie to this. This does not hurt your grass hopefully and just the weeds.

What did the labels directions say about when and how to apply, and which weeds it killed, and what types of grasses you could put it on?

From the directions -

To avoid risk of lawn injury, do not spray drought-stressed lawns.

Do not use on floratam or bitterblue varieties of St. Augustinegrass.

RTFM - makes life much easier.

Read this from: https://images-na.ssl-images-amaz...MPpmaL.pdf
For: Spectracide Weed & Feed 20-0-0, Ready-to-Spray, 32-Ounce

"Other Use Precautions and Restrictions Avoid spray drift onto vegetables, flowers, ornamental plants, shrubs, trees and other desirable plants since injury may result. Do not spray where grass is emerging from dormancy. Do not apply to newly seeded lawn grasses until well established. Do not spray when temperature exceeds 85°F. Seed can be sown three to four weeks after application. Do not use on carpetgrass, dichondra, closely mowed bentgrass, or on lawns where desirable clovers are present. This treatment may cause temporary injury (chlorosis or slight yellowing) to St. Augustine grass and centipede grass; however, this discoloration will disappear seven to 10 days after application. Do not use this product on Floratam variety of St. Augustine grass in Florida. Do not spray roots of trees and ornamentals. Do not exceed specified dosages for any area; be particularly careful within driplines of trees and other ornamentals. The maximum application rate to turf is 0.6 lb 2,4-D acid equivalent per acre per application per site. The maximum number of broadcast applications per treatment site is two per year. Wait a minimum of 30 days between the two applications."

It's always been important to know what (and when) chemicals are safe to use on your variety of grass, and read the active ingredient list of the product. There was an issue with a Scott's weed n feed product a few years ago that killed grasses in Florida (I think). I believe Scott's altered the formula.
