...but it literally says "NOT MacOS Compatible. Requires compatible USB-C Windows system such as Microsoft Windows 8.1/10 (Both 32-bit & 64-bit versions) " on the second bullet point. Why would you have bought this?

Keep in mind this only outputs 4k@30

I've seen many that do. The max you can go with one thunderbolt bus is 2 4k@60 plus 1 4k@30. Docks like those start at around 200 as well

I don't think any of these USB-C docks with multiple ports support 4k@60hz, only those single port USB-C to HDMI or DP adapters.

Oh, you're right lol. I guess those were always above my budget and never caught my attention since there were many cheaper alternatives around $50.

Any comments on how this compares to the Pluggable USB C dock? I was looking at that a few days ago.

Dont really need 3 displays so willing to sacrifice that.

I think if you don't care about multiple 4k displays, you can go way below $120

Will this support 4K video if I am using an older laptop but it happens to have a USB 3.0 port on it for the connection to this dock?

FYI -- we just returned this after failing to get the display ports to work on a Mac, even after installing drivers.

This is exactly right. I'm using a Dell dock that I got from Ebay for $40 to run my Surface Pro and extra monitor, Ext hard drive, phone, etc....

To be clear, Thunderbolt is distinct from USB C. TB3 docks are more powerful and very expensive. Cheaper "USB C" docks use the USB C connector and cable to transmit other protocols like Displayport, but they are limited in bandwidth and dependent on the motherboard to support alternative modes on that USB port.
