FYI: If during the BleemSync process when you are performing the custom kernel upgrade, if your PS Classic goes into a flashing red light situation, you can recover from this by powering down the console, removing the usb drive, then powering up the PS Classic, when the red light flashing occurs, hold down the Power + Open buttons at the same time for 5 seconds to get it out of recovery mode, it should then go back to orange and allow you to power up and see the display once again. You can then copy the custom kernel back to the upgrade folder as it is deleted even on failed attempt, then boot the system back up with the USB drive in port 2. Mine did this but successfully recovered the console by pressing those 2 buttons and trying the kernel upgrade again. OTG will then work once successful.

I'm certain they made tens of millions of these things thinking they would be a big hit a la NES and SNES classic, but be ready to match demand. The $100 price, lack of wallwart, bad game selection, and poor emulation doomed it out the gate. They're just wanting to clear warehouses and move on forgetting this ever happened.

Not always. Nintendo has always profited off their consoles. They have been the only ones to do it at launch every time.

What I want to know is. How the hell are these even available? Is Sony still manufacturing them? If so, can you imagine how much they were profiting off each of these units on launch day? ($100 when launched). A lot of these video game manufacturers don't even make money on their consoles. Microsoft has lost money selling the Xbox One X and the same for Sony with the PS4. They make money on the games. This was going to be the most profitable system Sony had ever sold. haha.
This is much likely the actual inventory price or manufacturing cost. Discount price may give a boost in sale which create quantity over quality. Then the sale of games in future may generate revenue. Same when u buy printer for $20 but ink costs $40-$50 each

Consoles are always sold for a loss. They all make up for it through software and accessory sales.

Not the Wii U. That thing sold at a loss for about a year.

How does this (when modded) compare to the Nvidia shield for retro gaming?

Edit: I already have the Shield but have not delved into retro gaming yet.
