Decent deal for a starter kit. As far as negatives go, seems like oil lube, loud 85db, lowish 3.8cfm, and reviews say it trips their breaker.

Any recommendation for a better one?

Perhaps the Husky 8gal hot dog one - oil free, same CFM/db at $109. Spend the extra on some tools. I recognize the extra kit stuff is the bonus for the deal posted. Personally I'd get the Husky 4g 225psi and an auxiliary tank for spraying, but that's really not a like-for-like comparison.

After my California Air Tools compressor, I will never go back to a loud one ever again. Such a pleasure to use.

My biggest issue with this is the compressor wont really keep up with the air tools. Generally you want a bit more cfm for wrenches and drills. Obviously the large tank will give some buffer, but you wont be able to use the tools for an extended period of time.

I second this. I have the 10 gallon California Air Tools and love it.

Hmm I am pretty sure the earplugs I already own. Are way cheaper than the California air tools BS that cost $200 more
