Why are they still putting ps2 ports on motherboards?
Because some people have older mechanical keyboard with PS2 connectors that they do not want to part with. Mechanical keyboard mechanical switches are tested for 30 to 70 million key presses, while membrane keyboards are about 5 million.

And...

Sure, then they get thousands of calls, why is the PS2 to USB adapter not working right. Where they can just integrate it and be done with it. Now an adapter sticks an inch or 2 out the back as well. USB is great, sure, but there are benefits of PS2.

I'm lost here...You said that "You" doubled checked bios is updated for ryzen 3000 and yet you blame microcenter?

Did you mean you "asked" microcenter was it updated for ryzen 3000? Unless microcenter opens the box up and installs cpu to see they can only go by what the manufacture states on the box. Seems to me if box did have the ryzen 3000 ready sticker on it can not blame them. On my B450 board I bought a cheap older chip just in case.
I think he meant Microcenter updates the BIOS and then put a sticker on it that says "Ready for Ryzen 3000 series". I think the employee just sees the sticker and said, "yes". Still Microcenter's fault for not updating (or updated an unsupported BIOS) and putting a sticker on it.

However Tomahawk has a lot of issues updating bios right now.
MSI just released v19 bios not long ago which has provided a bit more stability in the bios. I have the 3700x on my b450 tomahawk and it was only able to boot up (post) every 1 in 4 times on previous bios, but after updating to v19 it fixed the issue so far. Still feels a bit janky, but is working decently for now.

I would advise the tomahawk only with the disclaimer that you may spend some time troubleshooting and reflashing. In my opinion it is still worth the savings, but I like to tinker. The good news is, the MSI flashback button is really nice and efficient for reflashing bios.

3600 about as good as a minimally OC'd 1700x?

Most of those adapters are notoriously unreliable. Of the half-dozen I have, only one brand is worthwhile and works consistently. They also cost a lot more than a dollar since they are active adapters not just pass-through connectors.

You definitely do not want to game with an active USB to PS2 keyboard or mouse adapter in any case due to the latency as the conversion takes time.

The passive adapters that are designed for some older Logitech products are not the same as the interface circuitry is in the keyboard or mouse itself. Those adapters are fine for gaming.

Oh OK...did not know they did that.

Personally could not justify x570, and ended up getting a Asus Crosshair VI x370 for $120. I really wanted 8x SATA and it is not a common config only other reasonable option was Taichi X470

Where'd you score a crosshair vi for $120?

Is there a reason to wait if I'm interested in purchasing a 3600 + X570 combo? (i.e. do we anticipate a price drop in the next two months?)

I do have a Microcenter kind of near me, but it's a 100 mile roundtrip and I wouldn't be able to take advantage of 5% cash back through Paypal/Discover. (Plus they seem to be out of stock of almost everything.) I'm slowing building a new gaming PC (after 9 years!!) and any insights would be appreciated.

Your lack of LOL or smiley emoji makes me hopeful that you are actually using an IBM model M.
