The TP Link M5 Deco is a 3pack on Amazon for $140. I don't know much about the M4 but the M5's are rock solid, remotely configurable via a smartphone app, lots of updates from the manufacturer and they look less obtrusive than the M4 units. M5's are like discs about 1.5" thick and you can find outlet holders that collect the cable and hold the unit on a wall plug without a table etc.

How does this compare to a Google Home Mini device? GHM seems way cheaper..
They're totally different things. The mini is a digital assistant. This is a mesh wifi system.

Not tri-band, at this point Id skip anything that isnt tri-band. Also these things are ugly towers, the M9 is a lot less ugly in your home (and is a lot better than the M4 due to it being a tri-band mesh).

He's obviously meaning the Google mesh routers. And those kind of suck. These would be better to a degree anyway

seems to me the M5 is the better option

although i agree wirh Blahbooboo, unless you're using it for old tech, invest in tri-band, the m9 also support zigbee along with better speed

Pass on this. The Eero on Amazin Prime was a better deal, although slightly higher in price.

Triband is not important for people who dont utilize large amount of bandwidth at all time. People who only stream netflix and surf the web with some gaming it should be fine. Also if you do the ethernet backhaul it becomes a mute point too.

Agreed google wifi is the grand daddy for a reason, it has less range and lower speeds, not to mention over priced.

Its more expensive cause of the name brand, they also have a good reputation for being stable. Overall though they are not that good.

M5 is better if you want more control over QoS and the AV package. Performance between the two is pretty similar, last I checked.
