I have the larger XB41, which is excellent. I think the LIVE mode is a bit of a gimmick, but the speaker is excellent and has an IP67 waterproof/dust-proof rating to boot. The XB31 sounded alright in the store, too, but I wanted the fuller sound of the larger, slightly less portable version for my uses.

Reading reviews of this one on Amazon indicates it may have some serious flaws. What's worrisome for me are these two that are reported several times: sound volume drops significantly when battery reaches 50%, volume level is not restored when plugged in to charge and charging takes several hours.

I have Target's that show stock on these at 45.00 on brickseek but with those complaints I'm not sure it's worth it. Anyone actually have one and can comment on its use?

It seems like these speakers have lots of battery power, so I'm not sure it would be a big deal. The battery life is listed as something like 24 hours, but a reviewer mentioned that he realistically got 9 hours at 80% volume. Also, he said that the volume limit comes when you get to 20% battery life and then volume is capped at 50%. I can't be sure that's correct, but it makes a lot more sense than capping it at 50% battery life. Here's the review that info came from. It seems to do a pretty good job of running down the basics and comparing it to the bigger and smaller models.

Tag said $149. Had it scanned. Scanned at 149. Guy looked at me like I was an idiot. Lol. Can anyone account for the accuracy of brickseek pricing?

I had several Sony bluetooth and wifi speakers, they all had flaws to some degree. My biggest problem weren't the flaws but rather the shitty Sony CS which was beyond useless, inept and unprofessional. One time I sent them a defective speaker under warranty and instead of fixing or replacing it they just discarded (or so they say) it and offered to refund at clearance price.

So you can take a risk and gamble, but if you end up with a lemon (as many other Sony customers do) don't expect any help or support for a discontinued model, even if it's still under warranty. It's not the company with a reputation that it used to be 20-30 years ago, now it's just another multinational conglomerate that's too big to fail and couldn't care less about quality and loyalty.
