Too hot to go without ice. Plenty of freestanding 26-pound ice makers are $100 or more. Need to let it rest for an hour at the intended spot, to let the refrigerant settle.

Best to check if you have any locally for pickup, as selecting to have it shipped was more expensive than this item (after Staples/Amex deals).
  • Produce 9 bullet shape ice cubes every 6 to 12 minutes
  • Store up to 1.1 lbs of ice at a time
  • Water recycling system
  • Holds up to 0.5 gallon of water
  • Large and small two ice cube size for choice
  • Ice scoop for easy ice removal
  • Watch ice making process directly through the large window
  • Produce ice 26 lbs one day
  • Low water level alert and full ice bucket alert

Seems like it would take forever to make a lot of ice for a party or something. Does it keep the ice cold after making?

Will need to keep moving the ice to a freezer to store up enough for a party. Probably much easier to buy a bag of ice.

It will keep it cold if the machine is not sunlit or outside in hot temperatures. If any melts, it will just drip down to the water reservoir.

(It does have a bonus of being entertaining for the kids as one can watch the ice grow and get automatically shoved over. Almost better than watching paint dry.)

Thanks! I guess my question is what's the point of this? I could use a ice cube tray if it doesn't make alot at once for way less

Bought one similar at Aldi's. Doesn't keep them frozen when done. Made about 2x 12oz glasses worth of ice before we had to wait for a new batch. 9 cubes was about half a glass. Bullet shaped ice looked cool though but melted fast in glass.

3x $3 ice trays made more ice than the machine and were bigger cubes. Also our Walmart has 5lb bags of ice at $1.50

Check Aldi's if you have one nearby. They were 69.99 last week.

Bought this two months ago when our last portable icemaker died
This has been this price since May

The reservoir, and ice holding bin are pretty small, and there is no drain. However, smaller units, like this, tend to make ice faster. This unit is best for 1 or 2 people, as filling a couple of large cups will use up the ice in the bin.

Tip: use refrigerated water when refilling, it will speed the ice-making process.

As far as brand, all of these portable icemakers are made in China and distributed by Curtis under many different brand names.
