Mine has Nvidia drivers (25.21.14.2545)

I didn't post the picture, but yes. I installed a 1GB drive in the 2nd slot, very easy. It seems that there is a lot of confusion about this. The machine has two slots for M.2 PCIe drives, one occupied, one empty. If you get a version of this with the smaller battery there is a place for a 2.5" SSD (3rd drive). With this configuration you get space for two M.2 drives but no 2.5" drive.

Concerning memory: two slots. One empty one occupied. I pulled out the 8GB stick and put in a matched pair of 8GB. Max memory is 32.

Yeah, I don't understand Dell's marketing strategy or price points. Their MSRP on just about everything is BS.

My understanding is this Vostro 7000 is supposed to be somewhat premium. Aluminum chassis, i5 and i7 H processors with separate graphics. Whereas the Vostro 3000 and 5000 are mostly plastic or maybe the 5000 has some aluminum but is an ultrabook?

Then you throw in the new Inspiron 7000, which is aimed at consumers and not businesses. It will offer a magnesium alloy chassis and an aluminum chassis version. I'm assuming different price points and weight (mag version is a little over a half pound lighter), but the aluminum chassis Inspiron 7000 looks exactly like the Vostro 7000 except one is black and the other is silver.

Europe already has the new Inspiron 7000, but I'm not sure it's getting the best reviews looking on Reddit.

I'm just looking for something durable, somewhat potable, and will not turn into a hot plate or sound like a drone. Based on some of the early user reviews, I'm not sure the new Vostro or Inspiron will do that.

This appears to be the same price as the cyber sale in July a couple weeks back. Any chance it will dip below $800 on Labor Day?

Dell seems to be cycling through their New Vostro 7000 series with deep discounts. The one they haven't heavily discounted yet is the one with the i7 (9th Generation), GTX 1650 with 128GB SSD and 1TB (HDD). So if they keep this pattern up, they might put that one up for sale on Labor Day (or close to it).

But in the end, your guess is as good as mine.

Thanks, I will probably hold out to see what comes in the next few weeks. Dell had the i5 version of this laptop on sale last week for $709. That was more in the range I was looking for, but it has the smaller battery.

Has Dell said when they will release the new Inspiron 7000 in North America? I know Europe got it in May/June.

They do have so many lines and it's hard to figure out what's better simply from the basic specs though.

Spec wise this is terribly off balance. Nice high end i7 with 6 cores and 12 threads, but then drop in a low end 1050 (not even Ti) and only 8GB of RAM.

All the processing power you need, but not enough memory for crunching processing task sand not enough RAM or GPU to game very well for a long time.

I'm happy on the storage front though. OS on a SSD and a spare 2.5" drive slot to add as needed is nice.

For the price and the form factor, this is a nice little content creator laptop, especially if you're going to be transferring a heavy amount of files regularly (Thunderbolt 3)

This thing will keep dropping, yet the pro SDer called $1,299 a slick deal just a few months ago. I argue this is their low end line, he claimed it's better than XPS. LMAO

Another thread said the gtx 1050 is dell branded, and drivers only come from Dell, not Nvidia.

How are these on build quality?
I also was trying to figure out the build quality. These videos somewhat helped (but won't really know until I see it in front of me):

I just confirmed with dell, they said 15 hours Excel editing, which means 10 hours web browsing I guess.

Two memory slots
Support usb-c charging (only if the charger is > 65W)

Personally I don't like the numeric pad, so have to pass
