Do yourself a favor and buy regular melatonin, you don't need sugar and other ingredients with it. It's a gimmick. If you're young I wouldn't recommend melatonin.

Even then, at any age I'd try other methods. Recently found "silent night" on amazon. Melatonin always made me extremely groggy the next day. It works a lot better, IMO and isn't harmful at all, it's cheap too at $6-$7 for a months supply. If it doesn't work for you they'll even give you a full refund, but it seems to be working great for me so far (3 days in).

Would not recommend gummy melatonin. You don't want to be chewing on something with 1g of sugar before bed.

Yeah, I know you're right, but my kiddos sure do love em. Any even with the sugar, all it takes is 2 and they sleep through the night. laugh out loud

Read the research before starting to take melatonin regularly. If your body gets used to having it provided, it stops producing it. Then when you stop taking it, it could be weeks of insomnia before your body adjusts and gets back to making it.

Consult doc/pediatrician for correct dosage. I'm surprised this is 2.5 mg and for kids, honestly. I have used a local store brand 1 mg dissolvable, and tried everything from 0.5 to 5 mg, and have found 1.5 to be just right for me (adult).

Have you ever tried melatonin Liposomal? I read some science document saying that the best way to digest(use?) melatonin was as a liposomal, they gave instructions on how to make it. But then they removed the instructions on the site and said it was better to buy it premade and provided a link to this.

I take melatonin pills to help me sleep (some of my meds keep me awake otherwise). The pills work fine, but this liposomal stuff is REALLY strong. It works really well, and once you know how much (little) you need to get a good night sleep I haven't had any hangover groggy/sleepiness.

(Also agree with the posters saying gummy vitamins before bed isn't a great idea. The fact I take my omega gummies that way (usually after brushing) might explain one of the reasons I am still paying for cavities @_@)

Second this. Obviously, the dosage will vary to the individual. I find that 1.5 mg seems to work for me. This study compared 5mg and 0.5mg and found that 0.5mg was nearly as effective as 5mg. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/9844753/

I regularly take melatonin (1mg), along with a host of natural supplements (minerals, amino acids) as a "sleep cocktail". I could, and probably should, lower the dose.

2.5mg of melatonin targeted for children consumption is absurd, and probably dangerous - especially if it's long term. I'm not surprised it's rated 4.7 stars - it probably knocks out nearly every child for 12-14 hours every night they consume one...
