I think both have their place. If you are the type of guy that just wants to cut down the growth to a manageable height quick and easy get a gas or power trimmer. If you only have a little growth to trim or want to cut a perfect sphere use the manual for better control. Personally I don't look forward to trimming so I just want to get it done as fast as possible.

I'm new to yard maintenance. Would folks still prefer manual trimmers over battery operated trimmers? In the long run does it make sense to have this over battery edge trimmer? Advance on this would be great. Thanks.

I think these make the trimmed bush look more natural ...though it is more time consuming

Before I read the comments, I was expecting to read that, like many other brand names, quality has gone down hill. Then, by reading the reviews, I was correct.
