Both Walmart and Amazon have Brita longlast replacement filters for around $9.5 1 count and $16.5 for 2 count. They generally cost $16 for a single count. I am not sure if these are permanent price reductions or just for sometime. Other retailers like Home deopt and target are still selling at $16 for 1 count:

2 count for $16.96:

Some harsh reviews. The ones I bought from when they first came out and from 6 months ago was good. I wonder if they changed anything to make it last as long...thanks though and good deal

Would not recommend. I got one, the water takes forever to go through the filter. Permeability gets worse the more you use it.

Odd, mine is really fast and it gets filled pretty often.

I would not recommend either. I purchased 2 for my pitcher and they do take forever. I filled the water cavity and an hour later only half of the water has been filtered into the main body. It's just drops at a time. I thought the first was defective so I opened the second and it was the same. I should have read the reviews before purchasing.

Mine also works good. It gets a little slow as time passes but not to a point where it becomes frustating. Else it's fast and infact the longlast filters do not have to be changed so frequently. It's like fit it and forget it for a while. Some issues I found online were because people were not fitting the replacement filter properly.

I have been wondering... Why people do not regenerate their filters? Active carbons do not break, so all you have to do is to hit it with high salt or low pH solution, then hit it again with high pH so it is fully equilibrated in negatively charged ions. Then it is ready to use as new.

I work in bioprocess, this is no different than a column.

Now that Costco is stilling generic Brita filters, Brita better start running more promos or cutting prices!

I have a pur one and I love it. When looking at comparisons I didn't see many downsides to Brita, I simply found a deal on pur first.

The filter speeds were comparable, when I was researching, so I'd assume it's quick enough. Just don't run whatever container dry and expect to have filtered water in a minute. Give it 3 and you'll have a glass full ready

Are these water filtering gadgets actually effective? Is there research stating their effectiveness or are we as consumers just taking the words of these companies?

I just hose my active carbon bags down and immerse in clean water before drying them in the sun. Does that do anything? What do you recommend for the cleaning solutions?

This is not the price at my local B&M store. Perhaps it should say "online only"?
