Deal of the day. It is not the lowest price, but it is the same price as the prime day, which is about 20% lower from the recent price at $190 (released at $300 though).

Very decent headphones with 32 ohms impedance and it could be driven directly from portable devices or computer.

It has good comments for the soundstage and bass, and the earpads can be replaced.

Edit: As mentioned by @Evenous in the comments, SHP9500 could be another open-back option with a different sound signature (I'm curious about the difference), which is on sale at Newegg for $60. Sale seems to end today...

This is the rare open back headphone with strong bass. It's not the flat sound that many purists say they aim for, but very enjoyable sound. Well worth the $150. For headphone collectors like me, it's a relatively unique signature among my collection.

If wondering, I also own the SHP-9500, and it's a different sound signature between the two (more bass on the X2HR) but similar clarity.

I've had mine for over a year. Been really happy with them and they still look brand new with daily use. The ear pads are lint magnets though.

Nice to know. I got one x2hr last week and it will arrive tomorrow, but also noticed 9500 on sale at Newegg for $60... Actually, I'm curious about the difference in sound signature (in terms of classical music and classic rock.)

Come on 100 price point.
Could be very hard but not impossible I guess. $103 was the lowest for about a few hours. Even it is hard to find a used one at $100.

Any recommendations for a sub $200 studio (flat) open back headphone?

They will never be sold that below new so I'd stop wasting your effort looking. Original Fidelio X1s never got that low and these won't either. Buy used or pay up, it's still a fantastic price for what you're getting.

I heard k702 could be a good reference one but it deserves an amplifier. It's probably still on sale at B&H for $150. Would like to know more opinions on other options like HD6xx/650.

The 9500 at $60 is one of the few no-brainers in headphone world. It's more neutral (even a touch on the bright side) than the X2HR, and lower, but still decent, build quality. They both work well with both classical and classic rock, but if you A/B them, you'll easily hear the difference.
An easy classic rock song to test with is the Eagles "Take it Easy". If you concentrate on the bass guitar, you'll hear a noticeably deeper sound. But overall, they are both very good.

The Beyerdynamic DT 880 is often available under $200. Just be sure you get the right impedence version for your playing device.
