Well the Xbox can play games, if that's a bonus to you.

If you also want to play games get the Xbox. If you want a dedicated 4K BluRay player get the LG. There may be some compatibility problems with the Xbox One X and older Televisions that have Dolby Vision.

Read somewhere that dolby vision for sony tv only works with a sony 4k uhd player. Can anyone confirm this? I don't want to buy this LG uhd player and then have issues with sony tv dolby vison.

To be honest I already own an X-Box One X. I was just wondering if I would get any benefit on sound and video with this player over the X-Box. I know that the X-Box does not support DV and I still haven't hooked it to my AVR to test the sound. I just don't know if the DV worth it.

I believe this is accurate. Google "low latency" Dolby Vision. It's marketing speak for - Sony was too cheap/rushed to include the DV processing power in the TV. So they require the source (UHD player) to handle it. Not how the spec was intended so most can't AFAIK

On the exact same boat as you. Own an X but wouldn't mind having a dedicated 4k player that has dolby vision. Wish xbox would just update the damn blu ray app
