Just a heads up. You can buy this directly through BBY for $649. There is a $100 off college student discount that is not showing up. I had a CS Rep order it for me. For $649 and tax it seemed like a great deal to me.

I bought this when it was $749 and it is a streamlined laptop. Very responsive. I don't use it for the highest levels of gaming, but it hasn't had any issues with anything I've thrown at it. Would have loved to get this deal!

Glad to hear you have had no issues. The specs are solid for the price, and since it never moves I like a 17" screen.

How is the noise level when gaming and what games have you played on it?

Glad to finally see a 17" laptop hit the front page. Does it have a slot for a second hard drive?

How exactly do I get this discount? Is there a special phone number I would need to call? Would I need to send them a scan of a student ID?
Thank you!

It does have a 2.5" opening that is available immediately for upgrade of storage. I dropped in one of the hybrid Firecuda drives from Prime day and it has been a seamless update. Removing the back cover isn't too hard, just use a credit card to slowly release the plastic pressure connectors after you have removed the screws.

Is it easy to add more RAM for this laptop?

Also, does it ever overheat? Does it throttle?

Thanks

Most of the games I've played so far are pretty minimal load, like Civilization. Hoping this weekend to load some more fast paced games. Most taxing work I've given it is 4k video editing through Adobe Premiere and the fans kicked in while rendering, but not to the extent that it was annoying.

Also, can I add a spare SSD drive I happen to have?
RAM is a piece of cake if you can follow YouTube videos - I've got 32GB (16x2) on order. Spare SSD isn't a problem at all - there is a form factor for 2.5" waiting to be used as soon as you receive this laptop.

Thank you! Do you know if this computer runs cool, or if it overheats/throttles?
