Musician's Friend has a 3 pack of D'Addario string sets for $13.99. These are all 10 gauge sets.

Set 1: NYXL (NYXL1046) these are $12.99 anywhere you look anyway.
Set 2: XL 10 gauge (EXL110). These are D'Addario's "regular" strings. Retail for about $5
Set 3: XL Balanced Tension (EXL110BT). I don't know much about these but I'll give them a shot. Retail for about $5

Throw in some guitar picks (you can never have too many) and this is a pretty decent deal for 3 sets of strings.

Wish they were the NYXL0942, EXL120 and EXL120BT. But very good strings for a good price none the less.

Is this pack worth getting for someone with a
Ibanez Artcore AS53 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar
https://www.musiciansfriend.com/g...53&index=1

I know nothing about musical equipment and not really sure what type of strings to look at for a semi hollow electric.

Yes, if you like 10s ("light" gauge). This is a sampler that allows you to try their regular, balanced tension, and NYXL sets (which are all great) but only in 10s.

Yes, these strings will work on this guitar but looking on the forums I see lots of people with hollow body guitars trying all sorts of stuff. I read flat wounds, 12 gauge, etc. All I can say is that these strings will not hurt your guitar but what strings you use and feel the most comfortable with is up to you. The NYXL strings in this set are the D'Addario high end strings so it may be worth a shot. These are all nickle strings (can't remember if they are wound or plated) so these are normally a bit "brighter" sounding and often used for blues or country. Hope that helps.

PS: The nickle part is only for the 3 lowest strings. All 3 high strings are always steel (I think that is the material) since you can't make nickle thin enough to be just a string.

Thanks OP. In 4 1. Had some MF Rewards to spend from prior purchases. Hopefully these work well with the Gibson SG I got from the past deal Smilie

EDIT: aghhh scratch that. Anyone having trouble checking out?

What's the difference between the NYXL series and regular daddario strings? Are these coated?
