I don't think it was any less thought provoking than the original, but the concepts of engineered intelligence, cloning etc. are so common these days that the impact just wasn't as strong. I loved 2049 and think it was one of the best films that I've seen in that last 15 years.

Decent deal but you're missing out if you're not watching it in 4k

I prefer getting an actual Blu-ray disc for the $$ instead of the (streaming) version. Actually owning something tangible.

Great movie! Crank up the surround sound and watch on a large OLED if possible!

I wish they would release an open-matte 4K version. Same with Alita.

Beautifully shot, stunning color usage, magnificent art design... And a story as deep as a fork. A pale attempt at delivering a sequel to a deeply thoughtful movie.

I do not believe that the blu ray version has the atmos track but the 4k disc does....although it's harder to confirm that than I would like. But you are correct, this is one of the few movies that I thought were more than just incremental improvements over blu ray.

That's ok. We can agree to disagree. I think it was an empty suit. A beautiful, well created suit, certainly, but ultimately devoid of anything meaningful or intelligent to say on any topic at all.

The original was a beautiful meditation on identity, slavery, memory, and the very human desire to want more *life*.

WB is one of the few (only?) studios still putting out Atmos tracks on their standard Blu-Ray's. BR2049 was one of them (however that wasn't the case for the 3D version). I have yet to experience in Atmos but need to get on that, myself.

I came to post the same thing. This is one of those movies you want to watch in 4K even though it's not true 4K.
