You have to sell her on the equity. Show her the "retail price". It's like you'd be losing money if you didn't get them!

Do you even get what that list is? That's a list specifically for speakers that will play very loud without much power. That's why it's mostly JBL and Klipsch. A lot of that is pro gear for professional theaters and halls. You won't find the Polks on there just because they're not efficient speakers. That's not necessarily a bad thing, it depends on your needs. These polks just require a little more power. With very efficient speakers like those listed above sometimes you'll hear hiss and hums without anything even going through them. Super efficient speakers will pick up everything. Especially if you're using subpar equipment. I have a lot of equipment, efficiency has nothing to do with quality.

Too rich for my blood. If they can't replicate the $1050 / pair from last time (or something close), I'll sit it out. If they're truly clearing them out as some say, prices should be falling, not rising.

I will say this is the cheapest they've been in the last 13 months. It may not get any better than this. Neither Iconian or the rep I talked to at Adorama seemed to think it would. I went in for a pair as I've been lusting after them for months. Good luck to you either way. Considering I will probably use them for a decade, I'd say I got a good deal and it's money well spent.

Oh, I've already hedged my bets and got the 705s for $400 cheaper. I already have a pair of 707s in my basement. I'm not going to sweat it too badly if they don't go lower.

To be honest, both an Adorama rep and Iconian (Slickdeals) have a bit of skin in the game as they both stand to make money selling it at a higher price point. So they aren't going to suggest that they will get cheaper. A 25% increase over a previous sale for a company that's supposedly trying to clear them out seems like there is still room to go down. They don't want these sitting in their warehouses for another 13 months, I'd imagine.

Would a Denon AVR X2300W be sufficient to power these?

Depends on the size of the room and how loud you want it, generally no, you need a good external amp

if 707 is so good, why it is not in the list of List of Reference Level, High Sensitivity & SPL Speakers

Well just understand that "list" will vary depending on who you ask.

If you want to believe that those people can tell you what sounds like "Reference Level, High Sensitivity & SPL Speakers" to you, that's your prerogative.

That list is off the top of someone's head, and it's missing a bunch of good choices. It's author basically said so right in the forum with the list.

Way to many variables to answer that. Will it run it , yes. The sufficient part is completely subjective and your going to get people on both sides of the fence on that but only you can answer that question for yourself.

Just bought the 706c to upgrade my ~20 yr old CS400 center. Apparently now I need a great reason to upgrade the RT2000i's fronts I'm currently running. Anyone have a solid excuse I can tell (sell) to my wife perchance?? This deal has me on the fence and so close to pulling the trigger...

I've been watching these for months in hope of a repeat of the $1050 price. $1298 isn't that much more when I take into consideration that my first Polks are 20 years old and still going. Planning to use these with my 706c and move the 703s into surround duty. Woohoo!
