Does not take pics like an SLR but it's great for the zoom. Lowest price I have seen so far for the P1000

Just be aware that this camera is imported directly by 6ave and thus does not include a manufacturer's warranty. They get into the details more on their listings on eBay where they sell this camera for a few dollars more. They do offer an accident protection plan there for $60, which would probably be a smart thing to buy.

My aunt is a professional wildlife photographer and keeps this in her bag for when she just needs the shot. Say an Egret is 500 yards away. She can't easily pull out some monstrous 1,000mm behemoth lens and mount it. So she'll grab this, shoot a ton, then touch it up later. Pretty amazing niche camera.

That's the whole reason it can do what it can.... nobody seems to get that. GL

That's was a $1000 last I checked. I guess they are finally coming down. Nice find. If the sensor wasnt so small but if it was my first jump into the point and shoot mega zoom I'd do it. Super- versatile.

I was on a safari with my full frame a7. Between all the jeep shakings the neighbors super zoom was doing fine. Rangers were also using superzooms to check health. The bulky camera literally had to bolt on with stabilizers and stuff.

Point is that they is way better for most people than entry levels slrs and cheapo lens

First, an a7 is not "bulky", if you want to see bulky try a Nikon or Canon FF body. That said, you have to do your research a bit. I upgraded to an a7mk2 quickly after learning it would have IBIS and haven't had a need to upgrade since then. Also, even if you were using a7, what lens were you using? I can't rem but I thought the Sony 400mm FE has stabilization?

I've shot professional racing Motorsport events with the a7 (even with NEX7, it's predecessor) and got decent results with practice. Unless you're shooting night safari, most animals aren't that quick and FF will give you much better crop compared to most superzoom lens. If all you do is share on social media, I'm sure superzoom is fine, and also the park rangers use it for ease, lower cost, and they don't need great resolution. But if you want to print your Safari shots something 8x10 or larger, a super zoom with small sensor isn't going to cut it.

I have a friend that bought this camera. It's larger than he thought it would be and he owns the P900. It's a really cool camera though.

As a former news photographer that's sort of why I've been thinking of getting one. It might come in handy if some big deal happens while I'm out and about. You never know.😉

That's no moon..
That's a crater!

Anyways, waiting for these to come out with a 10 Watt laser, so that they can compensate for atmospheric aberration, while taking shots of the heavens.
Sure I could just visit the Atacama Desert.

I have a P900 and happy with it myself. Some people say after the 83x or the p900 that the P1000 does not take a better pic. Any views on that?

It's a shame when the laws of physics get in the way of good product development.
