Hmm.. reviews dont sound that great: https://www.rakuten.com/shop/6ave...cs/review/

E.g. "UNQUESTIONABLE CONSUMER FRAUD
Ordered a Panasonic DMC-GX85 in "new" condition with the sku 885170285316 from 6th Ave. What I got was a box that had obviously been opened because one of the lenses that was in the box was removed. Looking back at the listing, it turns out that they exclude that lens in the fine print of the listing under "Package Contents." The package was also missing a body cap, which is listed under "Package Contents" of the listing. Bottom line, wrong sku and nothing new about it. I will never buy from them again and neither should you. I wish I would have read the seller reviews more carefully before placing my order. After doing a little more research I also realized that they are not an authorized Panasonic retailer (big surprise there!), so buyer beware. I will reach out to 6th Ave. and F&E Trading, and update my review accordingly with the steps they take to remedy my order based on their misleading and fraudulent listing."

Anyone ordered from them before? 30% relisting fee if you want to send it back, etc...

after reading some more reviews... probably better to not bother and wait for a 415$ offer from a reputable vendor.

Is this something that PayPal's Return Shipping on Us service would cover if something did turn out wrong? (Assuming you pay with PayPal).

You do have me worried now...

Good question. You will probably be able to return it for free (shipping costs)... just if they want you to pay the 30% restocking fee... I am not sure how that would be covered by Paypal.

6th Ave seems to be pretty reputable. They have a 98% positive rating on Amazon [amazon.com] with over 2000 ratings. And a 99.5% rating on eBay.
[ebay.com]

I have not dealt with them much myself. It is not clear to me whether they are an authorized Panasonic dealer in the U.S. They do have statistically good ratings.

I have not dealt with them much myself. But since they are authorized Panasonic dealers and have statistically good ratings, I would not feel bad about dealing with them.
I would agree about not worrying too much if there weren't a 30% restocking fee (going by a few reviews) and you could just send the camera back if it is not as described. But there seems to be a reasonably high number of cases where they sell cameras that are not actually new as new, instead of open box, etc... Would suck if you get stuck for 100 $ for restocking or an item you didn't order like that.

Not sure but some companies will let you exchange it without a restocking fee. They only apply the fee to returns. Honestly restocking fees make sense for some items. When I worked at Best Buy, people would try to buy cameras, camcorders and gps navigations to use for vacation and then return them when they got back. Portable DVD players too (early 2000s).

If the merchant is reputable, they will let you exchange for another unit without a fee.

I totally agree in cases where the free return policy is abused (I think even amazon bans people for returning too many items), but if the item description was clearly wrong you should either get a) the exact item that was advertised or b) a full refund... all without much hassle. If that is not the case, I would probably pass by such a dealer and buy for a little bit more from adorama, focus, et al.

Hm, I am not totally sure, but I guess that Camera has only a tilting screen... if you want to do vlog style videos, where you talk the viewers through stuff, that might not be the best option (please double check about the screen though). Concerning the possibilities of the camera, it will be much better with a good lens (i.e. many more use cases vs. your phone).

Yes, but... that iPhone screen doesn't tilt at all, so the GX85 could still "blow that away" when used the same way.

hehe obviously if you are serious... a video/photo camera will always be better because of the settings you can adjust and the lens you can attach. the phone has a front camera Wink))
