There are some mixed results with the following procedure. Don't make your decision just based on this data point.

:
Unlock by metro is NOT ymmv. Everyone got unlocked.
1. You should not use rsim with different carrier
2. Power on from 180th day, keep it powered on 3-5 days with WiFi connected. It will be unlocked
3. Do not take out the original SIM card until it's unlocked.
Once you get your phone and go home. Call customer service right away and say you want to change your plan to the $30.00 so you'll get $20.00 credit on your next bill.

In reviewing this page on their site, I don't see the $50 plan is a requirement. Is that listed on another part of the site? Otherwise, would think the $30 plan would qualify.

good luck at the store.
Metro/boost and other prepaid companies are known to make you sign up to the higher rate plans and add a bunch of add ons to your transaction.
Be careful and try to pay with cash.

So 50 dollar minimum for six months to get it unlocked plus the $49 equals $349 before taxes and whatever else.
No, just pay one month services and switch off the phone and keep in drawer for 181 days. It will get unlocked automatically.

Some people have mentioned the iPhone 7 they purchased from Metro was the CDMA model, so you could take it to Verizon/Sprint (when unlocked). They also have the iPhone 6S for $29. YMMV.

Neither device has Band 71 or Band 14/30 (AT&T).

Other free phones with Band 71 support:
Stylo 5
Moto G7 Play
Samsung Galaxy A20
Samsung Galaxy A10e
Moto G7 Power

Metro employees are a bunch of a**holes. They're so rude and they never want to help me out. I get that stores set their own policies, but you can't be ripping people off with fees. One store charges $25 for activation another charges $10. One time I went to 6 different stores just to see what kind of fees they had and see if they have any kind of respect for the customer. Oh and the corporate store was rudest of them all. I ended up get one a phone from a location that was 20 miles away. Phone service was amazing, blazing fast speeds and good call quality, if Metro let you buy their phones online I would be more than happy to buy their phones and use their service.

Deep indoor 600mhz coverage. If it's available in your market, I wouldn't own a phone without this band.

My brother has been profiled by them. He called for inventory and was told they had it but upon arriving within 30 minutes, they rejected him upon sight. I even called from a parking lot to check inventory and then he walked in and they rejected him. Apparently an employee online says they are biased against Asians because that demographic takes advantage of these deals.
