Ochsenkopf (Ox-Head) 31-1/2 single bit axe for $70 at home Depot

Splitting axe is gone.

It's on clearance, so I don't know how long it will last, but I got my order in. This is half the normal price for this tool, which brings it into great deal territory considering the quality of the materials and craftsmanship. The ROTBAND-Plus connection of the head to the handle is the strongest in the industry. Gedore (parent company) use RB+ on many of their hammers. This axe head weighs 2500g (~5.5lbs).

Also available is the double bit throwing axe for $120.

That's not a battle axe. It's a throwing axe for tossing at planks and stumps.

this is an exceptional deal on a splitting axe. You better have some good sharpening tools on this hard metal. C60 seems to be used a lot in transmission and gearing metal (very tough).

And it's used for swords, knives.

Let me tell you: splitting headaches suck axe.
Be safe, and wear a helmet when using the battle (throwing) axe.

I swear I saw an episode of Forged in Fire where they had to make a Bowie knife out of this axe.

Why spend this much on an axe? I buy them for $5-10 at estate sales and they cut wood just fine after sharpening. It's not exactly bleeding edge tech.
