I'm ran across these on Brickseek, after looking a regular priced ones elsewhere. Walmart is starting to clear these out for end of season, and I picked up one today for $10 and it is the wooden bucket variety. Note, that these were not with the small appliances or seasonal. An employee helped me find them on an endcap near the rubbermaid storage totes and bath towels.

Some stores have it for less, some a little more

Also available is the Nostalgia 4-Quart Red Bucket (Plastic) Electric Ice Cream Maker
Reg $19, Clearanced at $10. A few stores show it for $5, but I cannot find any with stock.

It's painfully hot here in TX, so I hope this helps someone like me who's looking to cool off.

Good luck!

Bought the blue one for $20 several months ago. Wasn't worth the headache so I returned it. You need salt, a lot of ice cubes, heavy cream, etc... It actually costs less to just buy ice cream in the store.

Exactly. Plus it doesn't taste as good as some ice cream you can buy.

Right on. I tried Sour Patch Kids ice cream for the first time about two weeks ago. That stuff is good. Right now I'm working on Peanut Butter Cup. Smilie

Seasonal, which is somewhat vague

That depends on your store. Some may have them in seasonal. My store had the last remaining one in the aisle with the small appliances on the very top of the shelf. These have been on clearance for a couple weeks now, so I'm not sure how many will still be around.

I started again making my own ice cream, diff recipes and it takes less time, costs less, taste better, and doesn't have the ingredients that shouldn't be there. Also on the psychological side, I eat less Wink

We have the Cuisinart version, which is heaven. However, I agree that it's cheaper to just buy SEALED ice cream. Though, the memories I make with my kids...is priceless.

FWIW-My father has used one of these for years. He swears by it.

Same for making yogurt, etc. If this goes to $5 in my store I'll buy, just for the fun / "I made this" feeling but not for any practicality. I had an ice cream maker and it was fun, but a pain as outlined in the OP
