It's a good deal if you *really* need one but boy do they suck. You can expect that good 50% of them aren't going to work that well and would need to be returned.

I have a friend who went through *six* before landing on one that worked well enough -- luckily he lives in Brooklyn and works on the 9th ave so he would just drop by the B&H to exchange it. They all either would not fit quite right or would stop functioning temporarily and require multiple camera power cycles and re-insertions. After two returns in a row being a stubborn character he kept going back until he landed on a working one -- hence six exchanges. He shoots with D750.

Anecdotally, while 6 duds in a row seems to be on a higher side people seem to return 1/3 to 1/2 of them.

Just to note this is the 7fps version. There is a newer and seemingly better reviewed 9fps version that's still regular price at $99. I personally want a battery grip for my D850, but I'm going to wait until the 9fps one goes on sale or until I really need it.

Thanks for the post though!

Don't know if it will increase fps, and some say it is larger than OEM grips.

Check eBay. You can find OEM at this price.

Only for the casual user. I found the non-OEM Nikon grips tend to go bad really fast. Either they aren't shaped the same as the OEM or they can't take the same beating as the OEM.

In for one for Sony. Seems like a bit of a gamble, but at $300 the OEM is a bit crazy imo.

Why are these 3rd party grips priced so high? I got Neewer grips for $30 on amazon and ebay.

Because those manufacturers think that if you could pay that much for a camera, then you must can pay much for its accessories.
