Great knife and ~20% lower price than anywhere else I'm finding it. Remember this is the Premium CPM-20CV version. Benchmade also makes this exact model in a variety of less premium, less expensive steels starting with D2, 154CM (discontinued?) and CPM S30V. Read about common knife steels here. [knifeinformer.com] CPM-20CV holds an edge extremely well, but is hard to sharpen unless you really know what you are doing and have the tools to do so. Luckily, Benchmade repairs and sharpens knives for free if you send it in. Might be a tad too much knife for the average person unless you have deep pockets. I'd mess my pants the first time I scratched the blade, so tend to buy myself slightly less expensive tools. Awesome knife, though!

Yes, this is an exceptional knife. I own several and was looking for a smaller EDC knife for a mixed business environment. Perfect size blade and size to get everything done. I have only had mine a short time but love it. Wasn't sure I'd like the sheepsfoot blade shape but it performs admirably. Yes this knife is more knife than 90% of you can use, but there should be 10% of you folks who are well enought to do to want an exceptional tool. This is it. This is also the highest-rated every day carry knife there is, period. I am putting mine through the ringer.

I'm not a huge fan of the thumbhole-in-the-blade look (or even as an opening mechanism), but the nearest price for this is $165.75 from a reputable store. The G10 handle material and blade steel are quite good. This is a great price for a really good knife that should last you a long time if you keep it clean. This would be something I would expect to pass down to my kid(s) or grand-kid(s). This is also a USA made knife if that factors into your calculations.

As for the overall cost, well that's personal preference of course. Inexpensive knives are, for the most part, inexpensive for a reason. Yes, you could get 27 $5 knives for the price of 1 of these and that's fine if that works for you. For me though, I'd rather have 1 knife I can rely on.

This Spyderhole version is the best version of this knife, if you actually use it.

As Paladin and wi.inspector say above, CPM-20CV is more of a steel than most people want.

Eh, the political contributions they made have eliminated my desire to own any BM knives. 20CV/M90 is a really good steel, though. I like it almost as much as CPM-M4, and it's stainless.

Still can't touch my 15V, S125V, or rex 121.

I think I can not help this deal community much. Downvoting the best deal on the top of the line version of the mini grip shows a level of obtuseness I cannot fix. Consider this the last deal I share.

I understand where you're coming from. Even so, I wish you'd reconsider. It's truly a good deal, but the average SDer isn't going to grasp that. There's a percentage of the population that would never purchase a $135 knife, regardless of how well-designed/reviewed it is. And these people undoubtedly represent a high proportion of the downvotes. Those of us who understand the deal are hard-pressed to cancel them out. These folks probably wouldn't upvote anything fancier than a $10 Ganzo (and some of them are satisfied with their $5 Stanley utility knife).

However - there are a lot of knife fans on SD. Just search for "Benchmade", "Spyderco" or "Kershaw" and see how many deals pop up. Some of those were highly rated by the masses, with a lot of good discussion. A good deal on a mid-range knife - something like a Leek for $25 up to a PM2 around $100 - will inevitably get a lot of traction. Anything over $100 is going to be a hard sell.

I think if you come across a deal, throw it up and take the reaction with a grain of salt. There are people who truly appreciate those posts, myself included.

Upvoted for a quality knife deal! I can afford it but $130 for a pocketknife doesn't balance with the utility it provides, and the daily wear I give them, and the risk of loss. I collect and use US made Bucks, Gerbers, Bear and Son, Case, Japanese Kershaws, and one Chicom Kershaw that surprises me. And Irish, German, and Swiss. With "plastic" scales. Several were SlickDeals. Thanks again for quality knife SD's. I learn something from every post.
