I have this one. I upgraded the ram to 16gb ($30 on ebay) and put in a 500gb SSD ($50) just for games. The RAM and HDD expansion bay are easy to access and don't require taking the entire bottom off.

Screen is great, 1080p IPS, 1050ti is good for 1080 games at medium. Battlefield 1, Anthem, etc were fine.

Touchpad sucks. It doesn't have buttons, so you "click" the whole thing and when you right click, the whole pad moves. It's not great. But then again, who plays games with touchpad anyway? Use a mouse.

Keyboard is OK but backlight is only RED and pretty dim at that. They did some strange things with the keys by the numpad I don't like... del, home, etc are all in strange places. Not a dealbreaker.

The fans in this thing get aggressive when you get your game on. It's loud. But if you have headphones on you might not notice.

I have said this many times before, this is a great budget gaming laptop. But it IS NOT a great travel laptop. It's too big and heavy to whip out on a plane in coach. So take it with you for destination gaming. Gaming on battery is short to impossible, don't bother.

Ask me anything and I'll try to answer. Short version is, you will not find a better gaming laptop at this price range. Pretty much have to step up to about $1000 to get better specs.

I have the 2015 version of this laptop with 8GB of RAM. It's not a direct comparison, but it's the only way to get an idea of longevity. Maybe not apples and oranges or apples to apples, but like Macintosh to Cortlands. Maybe my analogy is crap.

Anyway, for me it was a cheap laptop that is very fast at everyday tasks and can play some games It's not going to be running anything cutting-edge at high settings.

Still, mine continues to chug along several years later, albeit with different guts. I hope this is somewhat helpful. 😉

This looks like it has the same specs as the dell G3 and the same price as the deal a few days ago. Would you take this over the dell G3?

Dell is known of having problems with overheating (it is thinner than Acer)..

Nabbed this laptop a week ago via the BestBuy/Google Express. Really enjoying it so far. As someone else recommended, throw another 8gb in and you're good to go. Very happy at this price.
