Good luck if you want to use it with HDMI ARC. High chance it will shut off at random. No known fix. I had to return mine I purchased from Sams earlier. Its a nice sounding unit though.

not sure about this model but my Vizio 36" 5.1.2 Home Theater Sound System & Wireless Subwoofer w/ Dolby Atmos (SB36512-F6) for $299.99 is getting frequent FW updates. Just got another this morning, these speakers keep getting smarter.

Price is good, but I see this price dropping very soon as the new 2019 version is supposed to be released very shortly

Looks like this bar is 36" wide. Would this be a bad match for a 65" TV with a ~58" width?

I have this under my Vizio P65 and i don't hate it. It could be longer but it doesnt look out of place. If it was mounted to the wall it might look worse. Just sitting on a console table it is fine to me.

that's why I mentioned good support with Vizio Firmware, maybe it's something they can fix. I also had some grief with my Atmos model. Nothing would work when I powered up my TCL 6 series over arc. I finally resolved that myself by switching inputs before bed. Apparently he PC would go in sleep mode and wouldn't wake up but if I left it on Ultra chromecast it would be fine in the morning.

I bought this last year from Costco for same price. Decent sound for the price.
Just remember that the satellite speakers are not as loud as the soundbar but you can adjust the sound of satellite speakers using the Vizio app, which some may not know.
Also, I am using with ARC with Vizio PQ65 and I don't have any major or frequent issues of it turning off, except once in a while, after TV stays ON ideal for a long time, it seems to turn the signal off to Soundbar. I have to press the volume key on the TV few times and then sound bar comes back alive.

I am interested but I've never owned a sound system and have just settled for the built-in speakers that come with my TVs so I am admittedly pretty clueless when it comes to setting something like this up. Does this require a receiver or can I just hook this up to my tv (an older samsung lcd at the moment) directly?

No receiver needed. This is an all in one unit you can connect directly to your TV! For someone that has just used the speakers on your TV, this will be a great upgrade for the price.

It basically acts as a receiver itself. You would connect items to the bar then into the TV. If you have ARC on your TV then you would connect all your components to the TV and use ARC to send the sound back to the bar. I am just assuming if you have an older TV you don't have ARC. If you do then it is much easier. The first method isn't as good because the bar wouldn't have as many inputs as your TV would.
