The deal is for the EC-10 from ESP LTD. This is a very well rated beginner/intermediate guitar. The deal is here [musiciansfriend.com] from Musicians Friend. I was able to get Sam Ash to price match and use the 10% off code for signing up for text alerts to get it for around $130 shipped to the store.

Just curious, does anyone have insight on this as an alternative?

$20 cheaper and to me Les Paul is a bigger name than ESD. Guess I'm looking for the cheapest "good" guitar

EDIT Found this, and the consensus is ESD is definitely a better brand than the Epiphone I linked https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/f...?t=1093350

This is ESP"s budget brand, LTD, just as epiphone is Gibson's budget line.

I had that guitar (in black) and used it for Rocksmith. I picked it up for $99 at the local Guitar Center and it was perfect for a beginner like me. I don't think you could go wrong with either.

ESD? I think you're confusing this with some other recreational activity.

And to OP... I know "intermediate" is a subjective term, but this is the cheapest guitar by a second-line brand. Most would classify this as a beginner/entry-level guitar, and even at the cheaper end at that.

Actually the reviews say this is a better beginner guitar, suitable even as a backup for gigging. That said your take is probably pretty accurate. The guitar with soft case is $199 everywhere else, so its firmly in the mid to low starter price range. At the $140 ish price seems like a good deal. The reality is if you are going on stage you would probably have a much higher end and higher priced guitar than this.

What do you guys think of Ibanez guitars hey also have good looking ones at 150.i had an old Ibanez electric that lasted a long time with no maintenence my only problem was oxidation of frets which was my bad for not wiping them clean. Otherwise it held the tune for a long time.
