Any radar detector is used to tell you are screwed on a laser hit. So that is kind of irrelevant.

I still get K falses from a few Hondas after the latest firmware update. My guess is the ones I still get alerts for might be just out of the narrow range Uniden set for blocking (firmware 1.50). Anyone else care to share on this?

Yep, the R3 is a great Honda/Acura detector.
Only way to stop that is disable K band which will put you at risk. Lucky are those in states that cops don't use K band anymore.
I've tuned my K band to 70% sensitivity which helps but definitely doesn't stop detecting Honda/Acura with BSM

Honda/Acura sucks! Their inclusion onto the K radar beam obsoleted my Escort 9500IX detector. Why were they allowed to use the K for their side radars when police were already using it?

Brother and I own two of these. Laser false all the time on our 4 test vehicle. Contacted supports and was concluded it was from the sun. So basically laser is useless (they concluded that too). This is from the latest firmware.

My R3 falses to laser when I have my Samsung S8 mounted below it. I think S8s eye scanner emits light beam that is similar to laser. When I use a phone without this feature (or I reposition the S8), no laser falses

My guess would be that there's not necessarily any laws on the books that reserve certain bands/laser, especially considering how widespread the tech already is. This was just a dick move by Honda/Acura, likely for cost reasons.

I didn't know firmware 1.50 is out. That K Block feature will certainly help as 99% of my false alerts are in that range.

Yes I am on the latest firmware (1.50) which hit 7/24/19. I see no setting videos since the latest firmware hit (from Vortex Radar). Do you have a link, or did you mean the old R3 settings video?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnneyR1rdFQ&t=1s

I am very familiar with the R3 settings and did use his guide back then.

I confirmed the firmware update took when I powered it on. I performed the factory reset (as required by the firmware update). I did go through the menu and enabled the K block feature to improve BSM detection. Notch filter for 24.194 – 24.205GHz. I am going to check falses to see if they are in the range or not. Might not be, but next time I will have the range info taped to the detector. Will report back.

FA's are such a PITA. Really desensitizes you to real alerts.

I sold my V1 and R3 detectors due to the inability of either to filter FA's.

Nothing worse than a false sense of security.
