Which means most prices have likely been increased to compensate.

I've seen them fluctuate on deals I've been following, during times of no coupon they'll have a % off sale (rarely worth it compared to a coupon).

Groupon coupons occur so frequently I can't imagine getting a Groupon without one.

again, the BASE LISTED PRICE does not fluctuate. I was responding to the comment that Groupon RAISES its prices when they issue a coupon like this. that is not true. the base listed price is the same before and after the coupon sale.

I believe he was referring to the same thing that I see...that at times of no coupons some things will have lower prices and during coupon times, the prices go back up. I don't pay attention to the inflated base listed price any more than I do to MSRP, just to the "deal" price.

Who looks at that price? It's bogus and meaningless, just like MSRP. They WILL increase the discounted price during higher discount offers.

the 'lower price' you may see it a temporary sale off the BASE PRICE. the price doesn't go up, it's that that particular sale ended and now instead of offering you $1-2 off the price which at best is usually 10-15% off, they are offering 20-25%, sometimes even 30% via a coupon code.

So if a deal's 'base price' is $20 and they are offering an $18 on that deal with no coupon codes offered, that's 10% off. however with a 25% off coupon that deal is now $15 net (25% off $20). So it's laughable when people post 'oh they raised the price', no they didn't they are offering a BETTER sale with this 25% off code than you paying $18 with no code on some 'sale'.

Basic deal hunting common sense isn't all that common I guess.

My feeling on what people are saying on that is that they see it for $20, let's say, when there's no coupon. Then they see a coupon for 25% off and think great, i'll use it on the $20 deal and get it for $15. But nope, when they go to the site, because there's an active coupon, now the same item is $23. It's still cheaper after coupon than before with the instant savings, but it still stands that they raised the typical "out the door" price to offer the coupon.

Groupon coupons happen so often that it's not a deal to me unless it's the equivalent of 30% or more.

Just use a cashback site along with the coupon and you are golden! Best way to get something for pennies on the dollar!

the base price doesn't change as far as I've been using it, for electronics.

If you think you're getting anything for pennies on the dollar on Groupon even with 30% coupon and 10% cashback, you need to spend more time on SD. nod j/k

As someone who uses groupon for local deals just about every week the prices stay the same. Codes from 20-30% off are always available as is 16% if using Samsung pay. Regardless thanks for the code.
