Someone's got a picture in the Amazon review with a tape measure. When the tool is open, from handle end to handle end, is 4".

It's a smaller vise grip, and also is no longer made in the US (just a FYI).

If you don't have one of these, these are one of the most useful tools a person can have. Their grip allows you to pull nails or unscrew screws if the head strips/comes off. A zillion other uses as well.

But I bought mine 20 years ago. Looks like they're made in China now.

One review says 'It looks and functions like a cheap Chinese tool... Because it is. The tension screw hangs up at every revolution. The jaws are misaligned. The casting is crude. The finish is rough.'

Most of the ones I've had also have the wire cutter thing, kind of like those on long-nose pliers. It's just a thin section near the hinge where it's semi-sharp and you get a lot of leverage and power to cut. The cutters on vise grips are great for thick wire like a coat hanger.

For those looking to buy, keep in mind that this is a really small pair of vise grips though ... it's not your regular everyday set that usually comes to mind.

4 inch? What exactly is 4" long? The dimensions are 7.8 x 3.3 x 2.3 inches but the size is 4".

Well, my immediate response is that those are the packaging dimensions even though it clearly reads "Product Dimensions," but even that doesn't explain 2.3" thickness. I just measured my 5WR and they are 5.5" X 1.5" X .5" so I would expect 4WR is about 4.5" or a little less in length.

Great deal - compliments my Irwin wise-grip tool set from previous SD which oddly enough did not actually have the vise-grips themselves included

Wire cutters on a set of jaw locking pliers? I'm surprised it doesn't have flashing led lights and maybe racing strips.

Wire cutter would be handy.

Lots of them have that. It's a great convenience.
