Brother P-touch Label Maker with color display is the lowest price in Amazon.

In my experience, it is very useful.

Awesome, ordered one right away! BTW, generic tapes are highly rated and very well priced!

Awesome deal! One detail about brother label printers I've came across that wasn't immediately obvious... this is one of the few models that can print in high resolution, looks SO MUCH BETTER to a nitpick like me. Wish it also had bluetooth... but I bought another nonetheless at this great price.

Per CCC, this spends most of its time around $60, with an occasional dip to $50. So, this seems like a real nice deal if you need one.

Select "Ship in amazon packaging" as this item normally ships in its own box

Same price at Walmart, perhaps elsewhere too.

Almost feels like they're trying to close them out. Perhaps they have a new model, with embedded security chips or similar in the cartridges?! ;-)

Or perhaps their razor/razorblade business model can still support these price swings?

If you don't use it everyday it loses connection with your computer. I don't ship everyday, so every time I need to ship, I find myself uninstalling and reinstalling software to get it to recognize. Not so convenient. But it could just be me. Maybe I'm Miss ng something on my PC. Some update, some setting, I dunno....

All it does it lets you design labels? What makes this a great product? Genuine question as I am trying to understand how is it beneficial when you can design labels using your PC..

Can this be used without a computer to just to make a basic label? I don't want to have to deal with connection issues. Thanks

Goes on sale randomly for $50-$60
This should be a Front Page deal. It's the best label printer in the under $400 category. I've tried a lot of them. I use these PTD600's (prefer the case model PTD600VP) and a professional Brady BMP71 ($900). The Brady has infinite types of industrial use tapes, it's in a different class.

As for tapes, Brother makes the regular and the Extra Strength Adhesive. You won't find the extra strength adhesive with the generics, no matter what they claim or if they use the extra strength part number code to their equivalent. Generic tapes are now a dime a dozen for this model. You'll have to find ones that are highly rated. I had trouble with brands coming and then disappearing. Some generics will not work in this newest Brother model. Especially the largest this accepts, the 24mm (1-inch) tapes. Years ago I thought it was the tapes with the green plastic spools which only worked. Now I have no idea.
