Nice. Thanks for the post. It's on sale all around me and I've been needing some more storage for my Xbox One X for a while.

I have been wanting to get one of these for game storage for mine and my children's PS4 but they are so expensive at GameStop and Amazon and just about everywhere. When I saw this deal I jumped on it! It was a little bit of a drive to the Target where it was in stock, but it was worth it because it was actually 75% off so I got this deal at $26.98 here in CT. Thank you so much for posting!

I think my perception has been distorted by unusually good deals on SD. I saw this thread and thought it was too expensive for 2TB drive 😂

Nice snag I was gonna say if that didnt work out try Amazons Warehouse they often have barely used external hard drives for pretty cheap

$45 is OK for a 2 TB external HD, but it's nothing special. Staples.com often has the 2 TB Backup Plus for $70-$80 and when you have a $20-$30 off coupon, it's $45-$50.

I don't have any notes yet on this particular model, so I guess it's a PS4 specific one even though any normal external USB hard drive should work on the PS4 once formatted. The Backup Plus (and perhaps this model) has the advantage that the HD inside (usually a HGST or Samsung from my past experience) fits inside a PS4. I think all other larger capacity HDs are too thick.

The problem is that some of these back up/external ones now have the adapter soldered right to the HDD as opposed to ones from a few years ago.

I know because the one I got at Best Buy within a month of getting my PS4 slim had an easily removable adapter. But I've heard from numerous people stating that they're now attached in a way that may mess up the contacts if you don't disconnect them just right.

Of course YMMV because you could find old stock and get one with the easily removable adapter.

Thanks for posting this. I hadn't heard that Seagate recently added a proprietary connector to their 2 TB portable HDs, but it's totally believable considering WD has been doing it for a long time.

Fortunately I have several older ones and the only time I ever need small HDs are for PS4s, and I already upgraded each of mine to 2 TB internally. So the rest will be used in their enclosures anyway. I will make a note for myself these cannot be trusted for PS4s any more.
