If it can't charge via USB c, don't buy it. Death to all proprietary power supplies

I picked up a Inspiron 15 5575 for $307 shipped. My gripes were no SSD, no backlit keyboard, 4 GB ram...I upgraded those for $100. Basically it's this laptop now without the touchscreen and mine has SSD and Ryzen5 (not optane)...this is a solid deal.
What ssd did you use? I hear ryzen inspiron are finicky

Definitely not cheap. Those are just for the basic users. Execs get surface book 2's or surface pro 6's, and now all the rest get Lenovo Thinkpad t480's or T580's. Not all staff need the same level of equipment.

They should be getting Vostros instead of Inspirons then.... large companies should be getting the corporate support that come with the business lines

Up until Dell canceled their contract, we always bought them through a channel partner, and they provided three years of on-site service. That was plenty good enough.

What would be the top concern(s)?
I would say the top concern is probably network security. If an attacker can't get on your network, they can't reach your computers. Firewall starts first. group policy, local PC firewall, complete with appropriate exceptions for remove management software. Encryption on the SSD, BitLocker keys appropriately backed up in active directory. Endpoint protection, in our case we used to use cylance, but switched to traps recently. Yada yada yada.

"Dozens" of techs told you m.2 SATA? This uses m.2 SATA? 🤪
I can't tell you whether this particular model does, but the 2018 3580s definitely do.
